A quinquagenarian is someone who is fifty years old and or in between the ages of 50 and 60. What a high point to reach in a life well lived; a half century of being, learning and sharing in a world filled with family, friends and strangers. No doubt a line, crease or wrinkle may be sometimes visible after such a well traveled journey. Each one is just a gentle reminder of days gone by; both good and bad that we have experienced throughout our lifetime.

Each half century journey is unique; some of us map out our future, piece by piece when we are still young; others figure things out after some much careful thought. While a number of us, go with the flow and land where we may. Others make wrong turns, but find our way back and some unfortunately never really find the rhythm of their lives. For these reasons, it is no wonder most people do not mind some slight chiseling on their faces after all; it is just a reminder of where we have been and what we have experienced and sometimes even overcome.

Many people have gone Over the Hill; most willingly, because they are excited about their lives and not afraid of what may unfold in the years to come. Sure there are some shallow people who worry about lines and wrinkles and I guess that is good for all of the plastic surgeons who are also turning fifty to feel productive as they help these poor lost souls feel good about turning fifty too. Whatever helps someone feel like 50 is a time of celebration is a good thing. I say, You are in the driver seat and 50 can be whatever you wish it to be after all it is your journey, is it not?
