Party favors are a tradition among birthday parties and baby showers alike. The purpose of a party favor is to thank the guest for attending your celebration by gifting them with a small token of appreciation. Party favors typically relate to the party in some fashion. For example, many birthday parties will include party favors that match the theme of the party. Likewise, baby shower favors often follow the theme of a baby shower.
When you are planning a baby shower, you should definitely make room on your to-do list and in your budget for baby shower favors. Whether you're the mom-to-be planning your own baby shower, or you're a part of the traditional crowd and you're the friend or sister of the mom-to-be, you shouldn't neglect those special trinkets to give to all of the guests who celebrate the baby-to-be! Some great ideas for baby shower favors include lip balm and lip gloss sets, personalized chocolate bars (Hershey's offers personalized wrappers for theirs!), scented candles, stationery and desk accessories.
Baby shower games often require a little more effort in putting them together, because while it's easy to find ideas for and shop for baby shower favors, finding games that fit the theme of your baby shower and are easy and fun to play may be a little more difficult. Games are one of the biggest highlights of any mom-to-be's baby shower, so you'll want to plan for games that are fun, exciting, and hopefully a bit different from the standard tradition of games.
One unique game to play at baby showers is bingo! Bingo is a traditional game for many walks of life, but it is not often associated with baby showers! Play baby bingo, using cards that have "OH BABY" on them instead of "BINGO". Use pink or blue chips (or yellow or white if you do not know the baby's gender), and often personalized prizes and trinkets as gifts to those who get "OH BABY"!
Play-Doh is another fun item that can make its way into the list of Baby Shower Games. Encourage guests to take a container of Play-Doh and create a baby! Award bonus points to guests who trade with one another to have colors to make hair, eyes, shirts and diapers with. Turn the baby creations into keepsakes by leaving them in a freezer to harden overnight!
