For the ultimate in party glamour, the little black dress is a staple of any women’s wardrobe and is never out of style. Co-Co Chanel introduced what was to become a fashion phenomenon in 1926 and over eighty years later it answers more fashion questions than any other garment in its stylish history.

Although the LBD provides the solution to every woman’s clothing crisis - especially as the Christmas party season looms, it also means that we need to reveal - rather than conceal - parts of our bodies that we’d tucked away into happy winter hibernation. However, where fashion ends, beauty can begin and with a few simple additions to our grooming routine we can be ready to party in practically no time.

Sluggish and dull skin often takes hold of not only our faces, but our bodies too during the winter months. However, there’s nothing more alluring than the thought of soft glowing skin on the upper arms to encourage us to prepare to bare all during the party season. One of the best ways to reduce the stubborn skin on our arms is to try dry body-brushing; some skincare experts say that it can even help with cellulite too!

Dry body-brushing is a simple technique that helps to stimulate the blood flow and encourage new cell growth; leading to softer, brighter skin. Simply take a dry, soft bristle brush and sweep up and along the arms towards the heart in generous circular motions. If done each morning the motion will also help to wake the body up for the day ahead - a perfect boost on those cold winter mornings.

Dry skin is the most common winter beauty complaint. The changing temperature is one reason for the change to our skins texture, but with so much covering up and so little moisturising it’s no wonder that our skin becomes parched for some seasonal TLC. Exfoliating the body can help to remove dead skin cells, revealing new and more luminous skin. However the key to getting and looking party perfect is moisturising; paying particular attention to the areas we hope get the most attention when in our LBD.

Silky looking legs that are free from dry skin can be achieved by using an oil treatment rather than a traditional moisturiser as oils provide a deep nourishing treatment that tackles even the roughest of skin. If you are worried about your legs giving away tale-telling signs of ageing – knees can be a dead giveaway – then why not try an anti-ageing body moisturiser? The now ‘infamous’ No7 Protect & Perfect range has recently added one such moisturiser to its range.

So with a few simple changes to your bodycare regime, your little black dress will make you look as fabulous as your new body feels!
