When it comes time to book your next holiday there is a lot to think about. Which country do you want to visit? What kind of holiday do you want to have? Do you want a relaxing beach holiday with nothing in particular to do – or is an active holiday more the kind of thing you are after?

Whatever fits the bill, you need to start looking for that type of holiday in the country of your choice before you do anything else. Matching up the holiday with the country can be as easy as finding the best beach available, or it might be harder – if you want to go to Greece for example, finding the best location to go mountain biking might take a bit of research if you want to book the best experience possible.

You also need to think about what type of accommodation you would like to stay in. If you are the type of person who likes to know that every need will be catered for without you having to worry then a hotel might be the best option. And if you are going on an active holiday then you might like to opt for a hotel that has a spa and a swimming pool on site to help you unwind as well!

Alternatively you may prefer to opt for something that is more traditional to the country you are visiting. For example, if you are visiting Goa you could stay in one of their beach huts on stilts for a really authentic experience. Be prepared for less of the mod cons though!

It can help to make a shortlist of the things you want to do and then find out what the best location for a holiday would be. You also need to think about the type of person you are when planning your ideal holiday. Some people will book a trip based on what their friends or family members tell them about a particular location, but you need to bear in mind that what they enjoy may be very different from what you would enjoy, and you could end up having a less than satisfactory holiday as a result.

While it’s a good idea to visit your local travel agent to see what they have available in the way of brochures, the best way to find your ideal holiday is to look online as you can do some research into the possible destinations that make it onto your shortlist.

Of course it depends on the type of person you are as to what you will enjoy the most. If you want the height of luxury then go for all inclusive hotels to stay in. If you want to cook your own meals then a B&B would be more suitable.

In the end we all have our own ideas about what makes the ideal holiday; so long as you find out what yours are you’ll have a great time.
