| According to a recent survey done by one of the major players in the travel industry, a package holiday to the canaries tops the polls as Britain’s favourite winter destination. The particular stand outs in this list was Lanzarote and Tenerife, taking a huge amount of the votes. This is all despite a decline in holidaymakers in 2007 in comparison to 2006. There are many opinions on the travel sectors decline but as it was only hit by a 2% slump many experts in the tourism industry believe that 2008 will be a good and hopefully busier year. This positivity has rubbed off on airlines around Europe where some of the larger companies have increased the amount of flights abroad compared to this time last year. The start of the year pushed tourism into the right direction with flight costs and package holidays cut to bring in the post Christmas tourists who are looking to get away from the nasty winter weather. January is generally a good month to go a package holiday to the Canaries with many cheap deals available and the famous Cruz De Tenerife Carnival bringing in tourists from around the world. If you miss the early year sales don’t worry! The early spring and late summer are seen as off peak travel times and some very interesting deals can be found if you look in the right place. So why do people return to the Canaries year after year? The weather is an obvious plus point as even the winter months can prove relatively warm. The gorgeous islands range from mountainous terrain for the adventurous and sandy beaches for the more relaxed. Thanks to the popularity of the islands through advertising and word of mouth it seems that a package holiday to the Canaries will be thriving in 2008 and future years. So get booking now! |
